CISDR AmeriCorps Program Details
Your World. Your Chance To Make It Better.
Communities In Schools Dallas Region, Inc. (CISDR) has teamed up with AmeriCorps to better serve the bright, but underachieving students of the Dallas region. AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, an independent federal agency created to connect Americans of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to give back to their communities and their nation.
CISDR will soon be accepting full-time and part-time applications for the 2010-11 school year. As a CISDR AmeriCorps Member, you will receive professional training, gain memories that last a lifetime and build your resume. You may also receive a living allowance during service and an Education Award to be used for college expenses.
The CISDR AmeriCorps program is open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent resident aliens age 18 and older. Members serve full or part-time over a 11-month period.
To apply, you should do the following:
- Complete our application. We encourage you to apply online. Once you apply online, you will receive a confirmation page detailing the next steps in the process. Please note that we do not accept résumés and cover letters; you must fill out our application.
- Download the CISDR Americorps reference form. All applicants must submit three reference forms (two need to be from professional contacts and one can be from a personal contact). References can e-mail their forms to juditha@cisdallas.org.
- Gather the required documentation: a valid driver's license; your birth certificate or a valid U.S. passport; your social security card; a high school or college diploma (or college transcript for current students). Failure to provide these documents at your interview may delay or revoke your acceptance into the program.
- We will contact you about setting up an interview time after it has been determined that you meet our qualifications.
- Please contact Judith Allen if you have any questions. She can be reached at juditha@cisdallas.org or 214.827.0955 ext. 241.
