...that Capital One teamed with Communities In Schools Dallas Region to have a Literacy Fair at Mark Twain Elementary in Richardson, TX?
On February 27th, 2009, Capital One volunteers and the Heart of America Foundation teamed with CIS Dallas Region to Celebrate Literacy with the students at Mark Twain Elementary.
The day began with a Pride Rally for the students, where more than thirty Capital One volunteers acted out scenes from selected books and was followed by volunteers engaging with the students in one-on-one reading sessions.
The volunteers also visited the classrooms and presented each child with three books and a bookmark to take home. The more than 1,100 books were graciously donated by Heart of America, a non-profit organization that works with Capital One to promote literacy by encouraging students to read, succeed and make a positive impact on the world.

In the afternoon, the two 5th grade classrooms competed against each other in Literacy Jeopardy, while the 6th grade classrooms played Literacy Celebration, a rotation of seven educational games.
“At Capital One, we are strong believers in the power of education and are proud to partner with organizations such as CISDR and the Heart of America to raise awareness surrounding literacy to young people in our communities, said Sanjiv Yajnik, President, Capital One Auto Finance. “At Capital One, we work hard to improve the quality of life and make a positive difference in every community we serve.”
Capital One gets it! Thank you, Capital One for your continued support!
