…that with the help of Communities In Schools Dallas Region, Inc. (CISDR), Coolet was able to graduate early from high school?
Coolet has not grown up under the easiest of circumstances, but CISDR has helped her from middle school all the way to an early graduation. She has really stepped up at home this year to assist her family, at times even working two jobs. Under these circumstances, many adults would allow the stress to get the best of them, but this young lady is a positive example for us all. An early graduate from Plano East Senior High, Coolet was selected to represent CISDR at the Texas State Capitol on CIS Day, where she worked as a Senate Page for Senator Florence Shapiro. “This trip made me realize that you can get anywhere in life, if you just try,” she said. Next year, Coolet will attend community college for two years and then transfer to the University of Texas in Austin; her dream school. With Coolet’s determination she will undoubtedly succeed in her future academic and professional life.
Coolet’s achievements, thus far, would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, in-kind donors and volunteers who helped make the 2009 Kids Come First Gala, “Bella Notte”, the most successful event in CISDR history. We are so grateful to Barbara Hunt Crow, our Honorary Chairman, and Elsa B. Norwood, our Gala Chairman, for their selfless spirit and gracious generosity. We would also like to thank Capital One and their volunteers, who made the evening run smoothly and seamlessly. Special thanks to our generous sponsors: ExxonMobil, Alon USA, Capital One, Barbara Hunt Crow, Turner Construction, Citi, Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Chiaviello, Jr., Ernst & Young, Benefit Corporation, Guaranty Bank, Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Godo, Ebby Halliday, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Huff, KPMG LLP, Mrs. Carolyn Loy, Rebecca Murphy and Viewpoint Bank. Contributions from the Gala will make a difference in the lives of students like Coolet, and on their behalf, we thank you for your generous support and heartfelt participation.
