Did You Know...

…that Office Depot has donated 500 backpacks full of school supplies to Communities In Schools Dallas Region?

On August 7, 2009, Communities In Schools Dallas Region, Inc. (CISDR) was thrilled to receive a donation of backpacks from Office Depot to ensure that 500 bright, but underachieving students will be equipped with essentials to start out the new school year. Office Depot’s National Backpack Program places new bags filled with school supplies into the hands of children who might not otherwise have the proper tools for success. Since 2001, the program has given out over two million backpacks. These 500 backpacks will be distributed to CISDR students in grades pre-K through 12 in 74 schools in Dallas, Collin, Ellis, Rockwall, Hunt and Johnson counties.

With 11,078 students in the CISDR program, there are many school children in the community still waiting for the supplies they need to succeed. You can help them start the school year prepared and ready to learn with an online contribution. Your donation provides a CISDR student with the basic school supplies:

Cost per Student
Elementary School $25
Middle School $50
High School $75

An online donation is a simple and secure way to provide at-risk students with the supplies they need to succeed in school and in life. Your contributions play a vital role in our efforts to help students reach their full potential.

Since 1985, Communities In Schools Dallas Region, Inc. (CISDR) has provided year-round academic and social support services to over 500,000 bright, but underachieving school children. In 2008-09, CISDR individually case managed 11,078 students, one child at a time, with undeniable results: 98% remained in school, 92% improved their academics, behavior and/or attendance, and 91% of those eligible to graduate, did so.
