Did You Know...

…that you can buy the basic school supplies for an elementary school student for only $25?

The 2009-10 school year is fast approaching, and thousands of students across the Dallas region face going back to school without proper supplies. This summer, Communities In Schools Dallas Region, Inc. (CISDR) is working to make sure that each bright, but underachieving student can walk into class well-prepared and ready to learn.

Cost per Student
Elementary School $25
Middle School $50
High School $75

An online donation is a simple and secure way to provide at-risk students with the supplies they need to succeed in school and in life. Your contributions play a vital role in our efforts to help students reach their full potential. For information on adding your company's name as a supporter, please contact Ms. Elizabeth Tello at 214.827.0955 ext. 213 or elizabetht@cisdallas.org, or donate online at www.cisdallas.org.

ExxonMobil Green Team

In addition to the School Supply Drive, CISDR is teaming up with ExxonMobil for the ExxonMobil Green Team, an eight-week summer initiative that provides internships and a study program for high school students. This summer, CISDR is hosting three young ladies who are assisting with the middle school ExxonMobil GEMS (Girls Exploring Math and Science) program. ExxonMobil GEMS offers unique classroom and experiential learning opportunities to strengthen girls’ interest and skills in math, science and technology. Over the course of the summer, the members of the ExxonMobil Green Team will choose an Environmental Science project, develop a curriculum and learn how to implement it. This will help them to not only focus on "green", but also develop teamwork and organizational skills, strengthen their math and science proficiency, and get involved with helping bright, but underachieving students in the Dallas region. Thank you ExxonMobil!
