Communities In Schools Dallas Region (CISDR) has some fantastic news!!! For the second year in a row, CISDR has received four out of four possible stars when compared to other charities across America for successfully managing the finances of the organization in an efficient and effective manner. It is only one of 202 educational nonprofits in the US and ten in Texas to receive their highest rating. Ken Berger, President and CEO of Charity Navigator said, “Only 20% of the charities we rate have received at least two consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Communities In Schools Dallas Region consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America. This “exceptional” designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Communities In Schools Dallas Region from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.
On Monday, March 1, 2010, President Obama spoke to a group of national education leaders at an event sponsored by America's Promise Alliance, and he recognized Communities In Schools as a model program. “Most high school dropouts in a recent study said the reason they dropped out was that they weren't interested in class and they weren't motivated to do their work,” said President Obama. “So that's why we'll build on the efforts of places like Communities In Schools that make sure kids who are at risk of dropping out have one-on-one support.”
Communities In Schools Dallas Region (CISDR) began in 1985 with three schools in the Dallas region. This year, we celebrate 25 years of serving at-risk youth on 75 campuses in ten school districts within the Dallas Region. Our 25th Birthday is a milestone which inspires thoughtful reflection upon the tens of thousands of capable, but underachieving students whose futures were changed through education with CISDR’s individualized academic and support services. This is made possible by our Board of Directors, together with our donors, professional staff, dedicated volunteers, superintendents, school districts, principals, teachers, school faculty, civic government officials, higher education partners and community leaders. Thank you for your generosity, trust and confidence in this organization and in the resilience and potential of deserving young students. |
