Spotlight on Success

Did You Know…

Communities In Schools Dallas Region (CISDR) holds free summer enrichment programs for CISDR students across four Texas counties? These programs strengthen students’ skills in math, science, leadership, strategic thinking, and the arts. Last year, over 500 students participated in CISDR’s summer enrichment camps and student internships. These programs keep students engaged in learning over the summer months, helping them succeed in school all year long.

Since 1985, CISDR has provided over 400,000 students with a safe and supporting environment. One of these students is Mateo, a third grader at J.A. Vitovsky Elementary School. Before joining CISDR, Mateo struggled with school, reading below his grade level. To help him out, Mateo’s case manager developed an individualized case plan, including one-on-one tutoring to improve his academic skills. Mateo, who now reads at grade level, is looking forward to entering the fourth grade this fall.

CISDR helps thousands of students like Mateo. With programs at over 60 schools in Dallas, Collin, Ellis and Hunt counties, CISDR puts students on the path to graduation. Of the 7,827 students that we served in the 2006-2007 school year, 98 percent stayed in school, 90 percent improved their academics, and 90 percent of eligible seniors graduated. So far this year, we have worked with over 10,000 students, and with your support, we will help many more.

We hope you will contribute to CISDR. You can donate online, or call Betsy Holland at 214-827-0955, ext. 234. With your donation, we can help thousands more students become productive and contributing members of our communities.
